A surprising, atypical wine, full of character, Mon Bouquet
Château Haut-Goujon offers you a bouquet!
This new creation explores non-traditional combinations, bringing together our five grape varieties, with Petit Verdot (planted in 2013), an unusual grape for our region, and Malbec, which enhance the wine. Every year, the blending and ageing processes are different depending on the nature of the vintage and what approach the winegrower decides to take. This is in line with the development of our creative range.
AVAILABLE AT THE END OF NOVEMBER !!!

2019 Vintage :
Grape varieties : 20 % Malbec, 10 % Petit Verdot,
60 % Merlot, 5 % Cabernet Franc, 5 % Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep garnet colour.
Powerful nose with a bouquet of black fruit (black cherry, Morello cherry, etc.).
On the palate, the attack is explosive, with a fruit compote of plums and prunes. The evolution is long and well-structured.
A wine characterized by tremendous aromatic power.
Decanting recommended for optimal expression…
2020 Vintage :
Grape varieties : 30 % Malbec, 5 % Petit Verdot, 35 % Merlot, 15 % Cabernet Franc, 15 % Cabernet Sauvignon
Purple with glints of violet reflecting the vintage’s youth.
The nose is straightforward and expressive, with a complex blend of roasted aromas already accompanying notes of blackcurrant and stewed blackberries.
The attack is lively and direct. Good length with a structure characterized by a mixture of very ripe fruit supported by well-integrated oak.
Decanting recommended for optimal expression…
Like an arrangement of flowers in a bouquet, this wine is available in sets of six bottles and only sold in cases of six in two outstanding vintages (2019 and 2020). Production is limited (2,000 bottles per year). Each bottle is numbered.
For the label, we collaborated with Élodie and Christophe Brisson at La Bête Noire graphic design studio. We wanted a label that appealed to the senses, with embossed letters and different colours for each bottle, like a bouquet of flowers.

2022 HARVEST

2022 brought a catalogue of extreme weather events: frost again, hail, drought and forest fires across the Gironde. It was a difficult year and we feel lucky to have had a good harvest. Frost damage was avoided by delayed pruning, which enabled us to protect the buds. The vines then had to catch up. We were spared the hail, but some winegrowers had their vines shredded just a few kilometres away. Then, during the summer, the drought and very high temperatures concentrated the tannins.

Even though the berries were small, this vintage will have great ageing potential. The harvests started on 12 September, two weeks earlier than last year. They ended on 6 October with our Cabernet which benefited from a few millimetres of rain that helped the skins to reach optimal ripeness.
