For the autumn, we are offering a wine that we have not previously released. We are proud to say that it was entirely hand-made, right down to the label, consisting of a “500” written by the winegrower!

Created in 2011, Mickaël had just returned from 6 months in the Napa Valley where he worked with his friend Luc Morley. That year, the nearby Tonnellerie Darnajou (cooperage) produced its first 500-litre oak barrels. Inspired by his time in America, Mickaël decided to vinify and then mature his best Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes in new 500 litre oak barrels, hence the handwritten 500 surrounded by a circle. 1,500 bottles were produced.

2011 was initially a somewhat reserved vintage, particularly in comparison with the excellent 2010. Nevertheless, 10 years later, with 8 years of bottle ageing, this vintage tastes marvellous and reveals tremendous subtlety.
